Embodiment & Intuition: A Pathway to Certainty & Truth

It’s time that we stop looking outside ourselves for the answers that we seek.

The true source of our power and our wisdom lives within us. And that is where embodiment and energy work can help us to come home to ourselves and rediscover how to trust, love and listen to our inner-voice.

Our bodies hold primordial wisdom, knowledge that spans space and time. This knowledge is written into our very DNA, carried through generations in our blood and bones, pulsing in our life force energy.

Taught To Mistrust Our Inner Knowing

For too long we have functioned under a paradigm that uplifts, worships and idolizes external authority.

As a collective, we’ve been taught to believe we can only really “know” something if we find proof outside ourselves. We gather evidence, and document facts, we seek out thought leaders and people who are “trusted authorities” on a topic. We look to others to tell us what is. We look outside ourselves to find “the truth”.

We’ve been taught to place external knowledge, and information gathered by an external authority at the top of the hierarchy of knowing. We question and belittle the felt sense or our intuition, which is often pointing at a truth that is not rational but still very real.

We’ve been taught to distrust and question our internal wisdom. And so we grow skeptical of the knowledge that we carry in our bodies (our intuition, our gut feelings, our internal sense of right/wrong).

We are literally unlearning years of conditioning that made us feel ashamed of or detached from our bodies.

Even when we experience a very strong inner knowing, we often doubt or question ourselves, preferring to look for logical or rational explanations outside ourselves rather than trust in the wisdom speaking to us through our bodies.

Our bodies hold primordial wisdom, knowledge that spans space and time. This knowledge is written into our very DNA, carried through generations in our blood and bones, pulsing in our life force energy.

This wisdom cannot be understood by the rational mind but it sings to us through our sensations and urges. It whispers to us in quiet moments, and waits for us to respond.

Relearning the Our Body’s Language

Embodiment, mediation, energy work and any other practice that brings us back home to ourselves are tools to help us begin to access this inner wisdom. The practices become a process to reawaken to the primordial truth that vibrates at the very core of our being, at the very core of all living beings.

Initially it may feel uncomfortable to experience life in a fully embodied way. The experience of our felt sensations may be so foreign that it scares and confuses us. This can further our mistrust of our felt sense because we do not understand the language of our inner guidance system.

Our inner wisdom is connected to larger cosmic wisdom.

Kristen Donat

Our rational minds have been trained from a young age to override our urges, impulses and bodily needs. Many of us were raised to worship the mind, and so we over identify with our thoughts and our mental body forgetting entirely about our physical body, our emotional body, and our energy body.

As we come back into relationship with our bodies and learn to live in an embodied way, it may take time to relearn the language of our bodies. We are literally unlearning years of conditioning that made us feel ashamed of or detached from our bodies.

Not only do we need to relearn the language of our bodies, but for those of us who’ve lived years without coming home to our sensations, there will be much tangled energy to unwind and unknot before the body feels like home.

My experience

This was true for me when I came home to my own body that I had disassociated from for longer than I even realized.

The first time I was invited to attempt meditating I had an adult temper tantrum. I was so uncomfortable with the experience of being completely still with myself that I freaked out. It was embarrassing and eye opening.

After that experience, it became clear I had let my fear, and discomfort prevent me from having a full relationship with myself.

For years rather than move through the discomfort and confusion to come into deep relationship with my inner wisdom, I actively avoid listening to my body. Though at the time I probably wouldn’t have described it that way.

When we experience life through our felt sensation we unleash information that is stored in our beingness, information our ancestors seeded deep in our cells.

Kristen Donat

Unknowingly I’d spent my time disembodied and disempowered. I leaned on substances, and I kept myself busy. I felt most safe in intellectual, mental land and in that world I could exist without settling into my body. It felt safer in my mind space, that it did in my heart or in my body.

Luckily, I had a circle of people at that point in my life who trusted and believed in the felt sense and intuition. With their support I began to dive back into a relationship with myself. I began meditating, I began working on my mindset, and I began working with and listening to affirmations.

But even with supporting people and teachers who believe in our intuition, it was still  challenging to reprogram my own mistrust for myself and discern my felt sense of right and wrong.

It took time to feel the truth that whispers to me from within. And even still it is a practice to really listen to and trust my inner guidance. Especially in the face of a wold that does not put value in inner knowing, or felt sense of truth or intuitive knowing.

Breaking Generational Patterns

Most of us are taught to question our felt sensations and felt experience of reality. And if not to question, then we are taught to ignore the guidance our body gives us. There are so many “normal” practices in this American Society that are so “wrong” in a bodily felt-sense way.

In very simple terms, even the practice of adults telling children to “do what I say” is teaching us all at a young age that the external authority trumps our internal guidance. We are taught to look outside ourselves for instructions, solutions, or salvation. We spend most of our childhood learning to obey external authority which requires us to shut off our intuition and “do what we are told”.

And so, as we come back into relationship with our bodies and reawaken to our intuition and relearn the language of our felt senses, we are literally reprogramming and unlearning years, generations even, of teaching.

So I invite gentleness, compassion, and grace into this work of embodying, of coming home to our inner knowing, to coming back into relationship with ourselves. We are breaking generational patterns of disembodied avoidance and dissociation.

A New Generation Reclaims Intuition

Many alive right now people have very strong inner guidance systems (intuition). These highly sensitive people and empaths are heres how us a better way, a way that is rooted in body wisdom, heart wisdom. We are transitioning away from idolizing external knowledge and moving toward the truth that speaks to us in the form of our felt sensations.

Our inner wisdom is connected to larger cosmic wisdom. We are connected, not separate, from the great spiritual energy that churns through all living beings.

When we tune into our felt sense, we can hear the songs of the cosmos and whispers from other realms. When we experience life through our felt sensation we unleash information that is stored in our beingness, information our ancestors seeded deep in our cells.

We each have the ability to access embodied and felt sense ways of knowing if only we are willing to slow down and foster a deep relationship with our bodies.

This is the focus of my work: to help others find empowerment in their inner knowing. To help us all feel powerful because we trust ourselves and have faith in cosmic wisdom, not because we are powering over each other and the world.

I wish for each of us to reclaim that power that comes from tuning in and trusting ourselves.

We, those of us choosing to live embodied, and in deep relationship with our feelings, felt sensations and intuition, are the ones that will change the world for the better.
