I am continuously reminding myself why I am here, and constantly forgiving myself for who I think I should be. So that I can embrace who I really am.
I have found that US Culture tends to place a high value on “being productive.” As if what we do or accomplish defines our worth, or the value of our day.
I am worthy because I exist.
And it is sometimes easy to forget that.
At the end of some days, I begin to inventory all the things I planned to do, only to find that none of those things were accomplished.
On those days, it is easy to judge or doubt my journey, the process, or myself. I begin to feel lost.
When this happens, I can begin to spiral down a dangerous tunnel of gloom and doom which prohibits me from moving forward and nurtures the seeds of self-loathing that our consumerist society would prefer I grow, so that I spend money to buy things that will make me feel whole and worthy.
When this begins to happen I lather on some essential oils, pull out my journal and I remind myself:
I trust myself.
I trust the Universe.
I trust the process.
I am here to love myself.
I am here to reestablish a relationship of love and trust with myself.
I am here to share my light with the world.
I love myself.
Everything I need is within me.
I am light. I am light. I am light.
I will write these things to myself over and over until I feel the doubt, shame and fear melt away and I feel light and love return to me.
I will breath deeply, inhaling the wonderful smells until I feel confidence return to me. Feel trust envelope my being. Feel my light brighten and shine from my essence.
I am amazed at how the process of writing these things out can shift me back into a space of love and trust. It seems almost too simple. When I first started this process, I did not fully believe the things I was writing. But I wrote them out anyway. As I continued this process over the last 6 months, I have found a glorious shift. When I write them now, I believe what I am writing. Since I have started this magical experiences have come my way. (maybe it’s my shifted perspective, or maybe it’s that what I send out comes back to me multiplied) – Either way, I feel better about myself and my life. And that’s all that really matters.
I accompany my journaling with pure, therapeutic essential oils. Smells interact with our limbic system-the emotional seat of our brain- and they support my movement from a space of self-doubt and self-criticism and into a space of love and acceptance.
Some of the oils I use most frequently when I begin to feel lost, or doubtful of myself, my process, and my journey are:
- Clary Sage -Promotes clarity & vision, trusting my intuition, opens creative blocks & helps me be open to new ideas and perspectives.
- I put a drop on my palms rub my hand together and then over my third eye, and smell deeply from my hands.
- Bergamot– Promotes self-acceptance and self love, clears stagnate feelings, encourages optimistic thoughts, awakes hope and offers courage to share our true self.
- I put a drop on my palms rub my hand together and then over my upper heart (right above my breasts, and up toward my neck) and smell deeply from my hands.
- Ginger – Promotes feelings of empowerment, connects me with my power and purpose, invites me to take responsibility for my life and be fully present.
- I put a drop on my palms rub my hand together and then over solar plexus (above my belly button but below my breasts) and smell deeply from my hands.
- Frankincense – Connects me with my inner light and reveals my truth and inner wisdom, promotes feelings of love, protection, and enlightenment. Historically a very spiritual oil.
- I put a drop on my palms rub my hand together and then over the top of my head or over my heart and smell deeply from my hands.
All is well in my world.
I trust the process. I trust the universe.
All is well.
